Leadership appointments position VUGENE for accelerated product development, customer acquisition, and international growth

VUGENE, an AI-driven multi-omics interpretation and translational science company, today announced the appointment of Founder Juozas Gordevičius, PhD, as Chief Executive Officer and Edita Karosienė, PhD, as Chief Scientific Officer.

The appointments mark the next stage in VUGENE’s evolution as the company increases its focus on product development, customer acquisition, scientific innovation, and international commercial expansion.

The transition follows a successful period under outgoing CEO Gražina Mykolaitytė-Nielsen, who played a central role in institutionalizing VUGENE and building the organizational foundation required to support the company’s growth. During her tenure, VUGENE expanded from an early-stage team of five to more than 20 specialists and established the HR, financial, operational, and organizational infrastructure required to scale the business.

With that foundation firmly in place, VUGENE is now entering a phase in which scientific leadership, product advancement, and commercial execution will become increasingly central to the company’s development.

“Gražina has made an exceptional contribution to VUGENE,” said Dr. Gordevičius. “She transformed the company from an entrepreneurial research organization into a structured and scalable business, creating the systems, culture, and operating foundation that allow us to move confidently into our next phase. We are deeply grateful for what she has built.”

“As VUGENE accelerates its product roadmap and expands its engagement with biopharma customers in the United States and Europe, this is the right time for me to step into the CEO role and bring our scientific, product, and commercial priorities even closer together,” Dr. Gordevičius continued. “Our focus is increasingly on translating the strength of our technology into meaningful customer adoption and measurable value for drug discovery and development organizations.”

As part of the company’s continued scientific expansion, Dr. Edita Karosienė has been appointed Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Karosienė has played an important role in shaping VUGENE’s computational biology capabilities and will lead the company’s scientific strategy, algorithm development, product innovation, and collaborative discovery programs with pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners.

“I am excited to take on the role of Chief Scientific Officer at this important stage in VUGENE’s development,” said Dr. Karosienė. “Biopharma companies are generating increasingly complex biological data, but the ability to translate those data into a clear understanding of disease biology, mechanism of action, and therapeutic relevance remains a major challenge. Our exceptional team of bioinformaticians brings the deep domain knowledge and scientific precision required to solve these complex challenges. Together, our focus is on continuing to advance the science and products that enable our customers to extract deeper biological insights and make more informed development decisions.”

Under Dr. Gordevičius’s leadership, VUGENE will focus on accelerating customer acquisition, advancing its proprietary AI-powered biological interpretation platform, expanding strategic biopharma partnerships, and growing its commercial presence in the United States and Europe.
