Juozas earned his PhD in Computer Science at The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in Italy and has since conducted biomedical research at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Toronto (UofT), and the Van Andel Research Institute. He has expertise in bioinformatics, with a focus on the epigenetics of aging and complex diseases. Over the course of his career, he has developed innovative algorithms for processing and analysing epigenome sequencing data, contributing to a deeper understanding of human diseases and the development of precise diagnostic tools.
Ramūnas has extensive experience in technology leadership, business strategy, organizational systems, and product development across biotech, cybersecurity, healthcare, and academia. As CTO at VUGENE, he leads technology strategy, platform architecture, and AI-enabled service delivery. He is dedicated to leveraging technology to make bioinformatics and multi-omics analysis faster, more secure, and highly actionable for our clients.
Edita earned her PhD in Bioinformatics at the Technical University of Denmark, where she developed machine learning methods for epitope prediction from immunological data. She conducted postdoctoral research at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) in the USA, focusing on prediction tools for vaccine research. Edita brings over 15 years of international experience across academia and industry. During her career at Novo Nordisk, she led international teams of clinical data scientists and contributed to global clinical trial delivery and digital transformation initiatives. She has also organized and presented at numerous international conferences. Her expertise spans bioinformatics, machine learning, and project management, combined with strategic thinking and a strong track record of leading international, cross-functional teams.
Karolina holds Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Master’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology from Vilnius University. At VUGENE, she leverages her scientific background to drive sales and business development, ensuring that companies and institutions around the world gain access to VUGENE’s cutting-edge bioinformatics solutions.
Vilija completed her PhD in Human Genetics at the University of Glasgow, where she continued her work as a post-doctoral researcher. With a background in rare disease genetics, including myotonic dystrophy type 1 and Huntington disease, she’s interested in understanding human disease at genetic and molecular levels and developing bioinformatics tools to advance the field.
Milda completed her bachelor’s and master’s studies in Genetics at Vilnius University. At VUGENE, she is eager to apply innovative methodologies to integrate various types of omics data and utilize advanced statistical techniques for analyzing complex datasets. Milda is particularly interested in uncovering the interconnected biological pathways that contribute to different phenotypes.
Algimantas completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies in Genetics at Vilnius University. His academic career focused on bioinformatic analysis of temporal epigenetic processes and large scale public data sets. At VUGENE, he is developing scalable data analysis pipelines and making them easily accessible to the research community, bridging the gap between experimental and computational aspects of biology.
Tadas completed bachelor’s studies in Bioinformatics at Vilnius University and master’s studies in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at ETH Zurich. At VUGENE, he uses diverse skills to manage the computational infrastructure to perform the analysis, creates original analysis using a variety of machine learning and statistical methods, and participates in the development of meaningful interpretations of insights gained from data.
Dimitris completed his integrated master’s studies in Computer Science and Informatics at the University of Patras and is currently a PhD Candidate in Bioinformatics at Ionian University. His research focuses on applying machine learning and AI to computational biology. During his more than three years of research at BSRC Alexander Fleming, he specialized in single-cell, spatial, and bulk RNA sequencing data analysis. He has presented his work at multiple international conferences and expanded his computational experience as an EMBO Scientific Exchange Grant recipient at Heidelberg University. He is interested in leveraging machine learning to solve complex biological problems and developing computational tools to advance the field.
Karolis holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Genetics and Bioinformatics from Vilnius University, as well as a master’s degree in Translational Physiology and Pharmacology from Karolinska Institute. With a wide array of scientific knowledge, he is exploring the potential of computational approaches in biology.
Liucija holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Sciences from University College London and a master’s degree in Basic and Translational Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge. At VUGENE, with a strong interdisciplinary background, she leverages her biological expertise to provide data-driven insights into key biological questions. Liucija is particularly passionate about driving meaningful progress in the life sciences with reproducible research and rigorous data analysis.
Viltenis completed his bachelor’s studies in Genetics at the University of Glasgow and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Bioinformatics at the University of Copenhagen. At VUGENE, he contributes to the development of a web application designed to manage client projects, with a particular focus on functionality, user interface, and user experience. By combining his background in genetics with his growing expertise in computational tools, Viltenis aims to streamline project management workflows and enhance accessibility for the research community.
Austeja holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Manchester and a master’s degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Edinburgh. Equipped with a strong foundation in both molecular biology and computational analysis, she is particularly interested in novel approaches to omics data analysis and systems biology. At VUGENE, she is passionate about applying rigorous bioinformatics methods to uncover meaningful patterns in complex biological data.
Lukas holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Genetics and Bioinformatics from Vilnius University, specializing in bacteria that cause persistent airway infections in patients with chronic lung conditions – work he advanced during a traineeship at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Engineering in Bioinformatics at the Technical University of Denmark, while contributing to data analysis and ongoing research at VUGENE. Driven by a keen interest in the root causes of complex biological conditions, he aims to translate these insights into the foundation for novel treatments.
Asta completed her bachelor’s studies in Information management at Vilnius University. Later, she finished her bachelor’s studies in Graphic Design at Kaunas University of Applied Sciences. She is combining management and visual competencies at VUGENE to devise and develop its Corporate Visual Identity in print, digital, multiformat and social media.
Karolina holds a degree in Finance from the ISM University of Management and Economics. Through her experience in international financial and business environments, she has built a strong foundation in financial management, business operations, and strategic planning. As Head of Finance and Operations at VUGENE, Karolina oversees the company’s financial and operational functions, ensuring streamlined processes and the successful execution of strategic initiatives. She is responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting, cash flow management, and supporting key business decisions through data-driven financial insights.
Vaiva holds a bachelor’s degree in Genetics from Vilnius University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Bioinformatics at Lund University. During her studies, she gained hands-on experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, and data analysis. This scientific background enables her to understand technical concepts and recognize the needs of potential clients and researchers. At VUGENE, Vaiva supports commercial outreach by identifying potential leads and contributing to efficient client engagement workflows.
Kotryna holds a bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering and a master’s degree in Nanobiotechnology from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. She combines her scientific background in biotech with strong communication skills, effectively defining custom client needs and managing quoting and pricing. At VUGENE, Kotryna supports business development by leveraging her technical and commercial expertise to ensure efficient client engagement workflows.
